This picture shows a highly magnified image of a carpet showing flea eggs, larvae and flea faeces. If you have a pet, with or without fleas, this could be your carpet!

typical carpet showing flea eggs etc...

A female cat flea can lay up to 27 eggs a day, and in its lifetime can produce as many as 2000! The eggs are not sticky and so fall from the coat into the host animal's environment. Production of the eggs peaks when the host is sleeping and so a  larger number of eggs may be found where the the pet sleeps.
