There has been a veterinary practice at this site for some 60 years. Mr Smythe who established it, and Miss Townley who succeeded him, specialised in treating companion animals at a time when most veterinary surgeons treated pets very much as a sideline to their farm work.

In the 1960's Miss Townley took over the practice and continued to develop and improve the standard of companion animal care in the city.

Ewan McNeill  joined the practice in 1989, to be followed by his wife Brin a few years later as the practice expanded. They bought the practice outright the following year and immediately started on a refurbishment, modernisation and development programme, which encompassed the whole of the practice in 3 stages, the work being completed in May 1997.

At the same time investment was made in new diagnostic and surgical equipment, and we are now able to offer a high standard of treatment to all pets.
