Serihoza Smith

Serihoza Smith, October 2009 Pet Of The Month

Hi! My name is Serihoza, and as you can see I’m a seal point Siamese. I live with my family in complete luxury, with everything brought to me as I need it, which is just what I like.

You’ll notice from my picture that I look really well, and I am – I feel great, but it wasn’t always the case. I’m 10 years old now, and my problems started back in June this year when I felt really rough – poor appetite, losing weight and no energy – I couldn’t even be bothered to groom myself. My owners took me down to Castle Vets and they took a blood test which showed that my kidneys were, well, pretty bad really. The vets weren’t too hopeful but they hospitalised me and gave me lots of fluids intravenously for a couple of days. My blood results improved a bit after this and between them the vets and my family decided that they should try intensive fluid therapy, which meant I had to come to the surgery twice a week and stay at the vets each time for more fluids.

Well I can tell you I didn’t think much about that but hey – it works! I’ve been putting on weight steadily and now weigh 800g more than I did in June. I still need the fluids but less often and I’m in fine form at home. Everyone thinks I’m a star and that I deserve to be Pet of the Month – and who am I to argue?
