This image shows the head of a tapeworm (Dipylidium Caninum). This worm can be transmitted by fleas and will infect both cats and dogs. When fully grown, these worms can be as long as 50cms!

Here we have a cat tapeworm (Taenia Taeniaformis). This worm can be transmitted to cats by them eating infected mice, birds etc. In this image you can clearly see four suckers and two rows of hooks. These are used to allow the worm to firmly attach itself to the intestinal wall of the host animal. This worm can be as much as 60cms long when fully grown!
